Our work

Real change starts in community.

Our theory of change is rooted in base-building — organizing directly with women most impacted by incarceration to lead the fight for freedom.

For over a decade, we’ve been turning that vision into action, working every day to end the incarceration of women and girls across the United States.

Our Approach

On any given day, more than 250,000 women are behind bars in the U.S. We know this doesn’t have to be our reality.

Through hyper-local organizing, political education, leadership training, business-building programs, and our national FreeHer Campaign, we equip women with the tools to lead, advocate, and build sustainable futures for themselves and their communities.

Building a Movement for Freedom

This is how we create change that lasts — by centering the leadership of directly impacted women, building power from the ground up, and transforming systems built on punishment into systems rooted in care, opportunity, and healing.

Together, We’re FreeHer

We’re dismantling systems of incarceration and building new pathways toward freedom, justice, and thriving communities.
